 
Proposal EngineerThe NetherlandsAugust 30, 2010The Sales & Concepts department organises the internal process of inquiry and concept design for offerings to the customer. After this they follow the offers to order acceptance. The department is divided into 4 teams each with its own product responsibility (cranes, pipelay systems, drilling equipment and winches). The teams consist of a Sales Manager, Proposal Engineers and Concept Engineers. For our Cranes team we are looking for a Proposal Engineer.
As a Proposal Engineer You handle direct requests from clients and you co-decide on the follow-up. You are directly involved in new projects from the beginning. You take care of the offer and discuss the technical specifications and designs with the customer. After consultation with the client in which you formalise their request, you ensure a timely follow-up by the Sales Department. Eventually you’ll enter the technical and commercial negotiations with the customer, the Sales Manager will guide you during this process.
You will have extensive and various internal and external contacts which make the job dynamic and varied. You will cooperate with other internal departments and colleagues as for instance Concept Engineers, Estimators, Sales Engineers and our Lawyers. You are and remain responsible for the final quotation to the client and you will coordinate and monitor the process up until final acceptance and order confirmation. After order confirmation, the project is handed-over to the Project Management Department.
You have a HBO or Academic Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering. You have a proactive personality and you are familiar with your responsibilities. You are convincing in your communications to colleagues (internally) and to your clients (externally). You have demonstrable affinity with steel and machinery. By asking the right questions you are able to get the clients demands clear. Eventually your goal is to lead sales processes all by yourself. You can be promoted, in due time, to the position of Sales Manager.
