The equipment, which is to be installed on the company’s newbuild rock installation vessel, will support the development of offshore renewable energy production in US waters.
Huisman has announced the award of a contract with Fred. Olsen Windcarrier for delivery of another 1,600mt Leg Encircling Crane (LEC) to be installed on jack-up offshore wind turbine installation vessel Brave Tern. This order follows the previous order of a 1,600mt LEC in March 2020, as part of the major fleet upgrade programme of Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.
With the delivery of two Heavy Lift Mast Cranes (HLMC) for Spliethoff, Huisman has reached a track record of 100 Mast Cranes. The first one of its kind, built in 1984, is still performing excellently today aboard BigLift Shipping’s heavy lift vessel Happy Buccaneer.
Huisman Geo, together with consortium partner Ed. Züblin AG, both drilling and geothermal energy specialists, have been awarded the overall contract for up to eight geothermal boreholes in the central Upper Rhine region in Germany. Drilling activities at the first project in Graben-Neudorf to start in May 2022.

Recently, Huisman’s Composite Tubulars demonstrated their strength in a test facilitated by the Rijswijk Centre for Sustainable Geo-energy in the Netherlands. During the test, a newly developed 9 5/8” full composite pipe took an impressive 530 bar external pressure before it finally collapsed.
