Huisman announces measures to limit inconveniences neighbors caused by construction activities
The Schiedam based firm Huisman, located at the Wilton harbor, is currently finalising the build of their new, 66m high production hall. From reports by the DCMR and the Port Authority Huisman has understood that the company’s neighbors are affected by the construction work which is currently being carried out at the Huisman Schiedam premises. Huisman is committed to a good relationship with the neighbors and apologizes for the experienced inconveniences. In addition, measures were announced to limit these inconveniences caused by the construction work, which will take place for about another three weeks, as much as possible.
Huisman treft maatregelen tegen buurtoverlast bouwwerkzaamheden
De Schiedamse firma Huisman, gevestigd aan de Wiltonhaven, legt momenteel de laatste hand aan de nieuwe, 66m hoge productiehal. Uit meldingen van de DCMR en de Havendienst heeft Huisman kunnen afleiden dat de buurt hinder ondervindt van de bouwwerkzaamheden die momenteel bij het bedrijf worden uitgevoerd. Huisman hecht zeer aan een goede relatie met de buurt en verontschuldigt zich hierbij voor de ondervonden overlast. Daarnaast zijn maatregelen aangekondigd om deze overlast van de werkzaamheden, die nog ongeveer 3 weken zullen plaatsvinden, voor de buurt zo veel mogelijk te beperken.
In order to bring the noise down as much as possible the entire siding at the Schiedam side will be installed first. In addition, the work that causes most sound inconveniences, as for instance the work using an impact wrench, will only be carried out at day time and not on Sundays.
Om het geluidsniveau naar de buurt zoveel mogelijk terug te brengen, wordt de volledige gevelbeplating als eerste aan de bebouwde Schiedamkant geplaatst. Daarnaast zullen de werkzaamheden die het meeste geluid veroorzaken, zoals het werk met gebruik van een slagmoersleutel, uitsluitend overdag plaats vinden en niet meer op zondag.
On request of the Municipality of Schiedam Huisman has hired external consultancy Peutz to take sound measurements. These measurements will be executed in line with the DCMR indication. The company has applied for an exemption to 22:00 hrs until the scheduled end of the construction works in approximately three weeks. The humming noise which is also heard by local residents is caused by generators on board the vessel currenly located at the Huisman quay and is expected to be resolved by the end of this week.
Op instructie van de Gemeente Schiedam heeft Huisman extern bureau Peutz ingeschakeld om geluidsmetingen doen. Deze metingen zullen naar indicatie van de DCMR uitgevoerd worden. Een ontheffing is aangevraagd om tot het geplande einde van de bouw over circa 3 weken tot 22:00 uur te kunnen doorwerken. De bromtoon die nu door buurtbewoners gehoord wordt en die veroorzaakt wordt door generatoren aan boord van het schip dat nu bij Huisman voor de kade ligt, zal naar verwachting eind deze week verholpen zijn.
The new Huisman production hall will enable the company to maintain its international market position for cranes, pipelay systems and drilling equipment on board vessels. One of the most recently built drilling masts is currently commissioned on board of the, Korean built, drill ship “Globetrotter 1” currently located at the Huisman quay. Early next year this vessel will start her first project in the Gulf of Mexico.
De nieuwe Huisman productiehal moet het bedrijf in staat stellen om te kunnen blijven meespelen in de internationale markt voor kranen, pijplegsystemen en boorinstallaties aan boord van schepen. Een van de meest recent gebouwde boortorens wordt momenteel in bedrijfgesteld aan boord van het, in Korea gebouwde, boorschip “Globetrotter 1”. Dit schip ligt momenteel bij Huisman aan de kade. Begin volgend jaar zal het schip haar eerste project in de Golf van Mexico aanvangen.
