Huisman announces measures to limit inconveniences neighbors caused by construction activities

The Schiedam based firm Huisman, located at the Wilton harbor, is currently finalising the build of their new, 66m high production hall. From reports by the DCMR and the Port Authority Huisman has understood that the company’s neighbors are affected by the construction work which is currently being carried out at the Huisman Schiedam premises. Huisman is committed to a good relationship with the neighbors and apologizes for the experienced inconveniences. In addition, measures were announced to limit these inconveniences caused by the construction work, which will take place for about another three weeks, as much as possible.

De Schiedamse firma Huisman, gevestigd aan de Wiltonhaven, legt momenteel de laatste hand aan de nieuwe, 66m hoge productiehal. Uit meldingen van de DCMR en de Havendienst heeft Huisman kunnen afleiden dat de buurt hinder ondervindt van de bouwwerkzaamheden die momenteel bij het bedrijf worden uitgevoerd. Huisman hecht zeer aan een goede relatie met de buurt en verontschuldigt zich hierbij voor de ondervonden overlast. Daarnaast zijn maatregelen aangekondigd om deze overlast van de werkzaamheden, die nog ongeveer 3 weken zullen plaatsvinden, voor de buurt zo veel mogelijk te beperken.

On Thursday 16 June 2011, Huisman’s CEO Joop Roodenburg gave the official start signal for the construction of Huisman China’s new quayside which will be one of China’s most solid quaysides ever built. With the new quayside in place, the Huisman China facility will be easily accessible for seagoing vessels, allowing for fast installation, commissioning and testing of the Huisman designed and built offshore construction equipment onboard. Besides the installation of Huisman products, the new quay and 2,400mt Travelling Crane will also serve commercial purposes for companies throughout China.

Huisman successfully delivers 600mt Pedestal Crane “MPI Resolution”

On Tuesday 8 March 2011, Huisman, the Dutch-based specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, successfully completed the load testing of the new build 600mt Pedestal Crane onboard Wind Turbine Installation Vessel “MPI Resolution”. The load test was the final step before the crane was handed over to the clients Centrica Renewable Energy Ltd and MPI Offshore Limited.

Huisman’s Wind Turbine Shuttle (WTS), has been nominated for the Nor-Shipping Next Generation Ship Award.  This Award will be awarded on Tuesday 24 May at the Nor-Shipping Opening Conference to the ship project demonstrating the greatest advances in design. The design will be assessed with respect to energy efficiency, innovation, suitability and flexibility, technology utilization, safety and security and environmental sustainability. Up to four nominees will be publicly honored for their innovative ship design.

Huisman successfully transports and installs 5,000mt crane “Seven Borealis”

Early March, Huisman, the Dutch-based specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, successfully installed world’s largest Offshore Mast Crane onboard the “Seven Borealis” in four days only. This crane installation is  considered as the heaviest and logistically most complex conducted by Huisman to date. After final load testing, the “Seven Borealis” will depart for the Huisman production facility in Schiedam where a complete 600mt S-lay system will be finalised.

Huisman and Bakker Sliedrecht announce expansion of collaboration to China

Huisman, the Schiedam-based designer and manufacturer of heavy construction equipment for international onshore and offshore companies, and Bakker Sliedrecht, provider of total solutions related to maritime and industrial electro techniques, have announced to expand their collaboration to China. The Huisman production facility in Fujian will get a specially equipped workshop supervised by Bakker specialists for the production of electronically controlled drive systems. For Huisman this will result in a saving on the total cost of drive systems, Bakker Sliedrecht creates the possibility to enter the Chinese market on an extended scale.

Monday evening 27 September 2010, the drill tower for the Noble Bully II drill ship left the Huisman quay in Schiedam heading for the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore, where it is expected to arrive early November. Huisman, the Dutch–based specialist in heavy lifting, pipelay and drilling equipment, designed and manufactured the drilling tower and related cranes, pipe, riser and BOP handling equipment.

Huisman and Noble sign contract for drilling equipment Globetrotter 2

On Friday 6 August 2010, Dutch based Huisman, specialist in heavy offshore construction equipment and Noble signed a contract for the delivery of the drilling equipment onboard Noble’s new deep water drill ship “Globetrotter 2”. The drilling equipment is based on the drilling mast and carousel type setbacks as currently under construction for the Globetrotter 1 rig and for the “Bully” rigs, on order by Noble / Shell. The vessel will, as Globetrotter 1, be built by Korean shipyard STX.

Huisman to deliver heavylifting and pipelay equipment onboard Heerema’s new Deep Water Construction Vessel

Huisman and Heerema Offshore Services signed a Letter of Intent for the delivery of all mission equipment onboard Heerema’s new Deep Water Construction Vessel. Huisman will design, construct and install a 4,000mt Offshore Mast Crane and a pipelay tower for both J-lay and Reel-lay operations in ultra deep water. Installation of equipment is scheduled for 2012/2013, partly at the DSME yard in South Korea and partly at the Huisman quay in Schiedam, The Netherlands.

Second geothermal project for Huisman’s LOC 400 drilling rig

Huisman’s land drilling rig, the LOC 400, operated by the Northern Dutch Drilling Company (NDDC) has recently started its second geothermal drilling project. This time in the city of The Hague, The Netherlands. The compact and containerised unit will be used for the drilling scope of the project which ultimately will provide 4,000 homes and 20,000 square feet of office space with hot water for heating purposes and hot tap water. The project is a collaboration (under the name of Aardwarmte Den Haag) of the city of The Hague, energy companies Eneco and E.ON Benelux and housing corporations Staedion, Vestia and Haag Wonen. The selection of the LOC 400 for one of the first renewable heating initiatives at this scale in The Netherlands shows that Huisman’s drilling rig is living up to its expectation of being an efficient, safe and environmental friendly alternative to conventional drilling rigs.

The crane will be constructed, installed, commissioned and tested at the Huisman facility in Schiedam, The Netherlands.

Huisman opens new 62m high production hall in China

On Sunday 31 January 2010, Huisman, a specialist in heavy lifting, pipelay and drilling equipment officially opened their new production hall in China. This new hall is the company’s largest production hall, measuring 205m in length, 54m in width and 62m in height. The large height of the new hall and the available 2,000mt internal hoisting capacity allows the Huisman production facility in China to assemble products vertically, considerably enlarging the facility’s capacity in both the size and the number of products.

Early Thursday morning 12 November, the drill tower for the first Shell/Frontier Bully drill ship was shipped from the Huisman quay in Schiedam to the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore, where it is expected to arrive mid December. Huisman, the Dutch–based specialist in heavy lifting, pipelay and drilling equipment, designed and manufactured the drilling tower and related pipe, riser and BOP handling equipment. Delivery of the equipment is in line with the delivery schedule of the new build Bully 1 vessel at Keppel Shipyard. The Huisman delivery of similar equipment for Bully 2 is planned in 5 months time.

The past decades have been professionally exciting and challenging for Huisman. We have been able to expand our initial product scope to the design and construction of an extensive range of heavy lifting, drilling, pipelay, and mooring systems. In addition, we extended our work field from a primarily Dutch market, to a global market. Aside from our head office and production facility in Schiedam, The Netherlands, we currently have offices in Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, Singapore and the USA and we operate production facilities in the Czech Republic and China.

 

Now, we believe it is time to ensure that our external presentation fully represents our company.

Successful first project for Huisman’s new LOC 400 Drilling Rig

Huisman's newly developed containerised drilling rig, the LOC 400, operated by the Northern Dutch Drilling Company (NDDC) for Northern Petroleum Netherlands (NPN), successfully completed its first well in Werkendam, The Netherlands. The recently delivered unit managed to drill the entire well (TD = 2,650m (8,694ft) from spud to rig release in a period of 6 weeks, with very little downtime. This is a remarkable performance considering the completely new rig design and the new drilling contractor. In addition, the 780m (2,559ft) surface hole was completed using casing while drilling techniques, which is an absolute first for the Netherlands, the depth of the surface hole by Casing While Drilling is a new record for Europe.
